Donna's 2010 Christmas Speech - Memories of Christmas Party Past

Donna's 2010 Christmas Speech

I waited till the day before our Grooms Annual Christmas Party to write a story. I wasn’t going to write anything this year but guilt took over.  So here I am once again standing up in front of my family with yet another story for you; so sit back and enjoy.
There’s an old saying that I’m sure we have all heard and it goes something like this……You can pick your friends but you can’t pick your family.  So we all must look at each other and make it known to our children and their children the importance of being part of a FAMILY.
Daddy was so gun ho when it came to the family; he always wanted us together on holidays. His love for the holidays will always stay in my heart just like it does for the rest of you.  No matter what has happened when it comes to the holiday's Daddy would not put up with any bickering. He would walk by and give you a jip flip or a Dutch rub if your attitude wasn’t what he thought it should be…..man I have got a few of them myself…….and man it hurts LOL.
Daddy tried his best to instill the importance of family into his children; he wanted a bond to be kept between his kids.  I feel like it is my job to instill those same values into my children and hopefully, my children will do the same.  Children need to know that friends may come and go but your family will always be there.
If you have ever missed out on a family holiday event I would think you would feel like you missed out on something so important. There is always something that happens at the parties that makes you not want to miss a single one.
2006 had lots of memories for me that I hold on to it was Wyatt’s  & Marlon’s first time to attend the Grooms Annual Christmas Party, Chris, Courtney and the boys were here from Texas, we also started the tradition of making a Grooms Annual Christmas ornament.  Now, who remembers what ornaments were made that year? (Pinecone and reindeer ornament) last thing I remember about the o6 Christmas party was Morgan getting a Rudolf the red nose for a gag gift and then when she put it on she looked so cute and funny.
2008~~the main thing I remember is Maggie’s reaction when she opened up her gag gift and inside was a BIG HUGE POTATO……the look she had was priceless and so very FUNNY. 08’s Christmas ornament was a snowman ornament.
Well let’s keep walking down memory lane….2009~~Josh and Miranda fly home for the Grooms Annual Christmas Party, Audrey attended her first  Grooms Annual Christmas party and the ornament made last year was a foam reindeer ornament.
I have brought some Christmas books from 05 to 2009 and will lay them out for all of you to go through and reminisce about them as you look over the good times we have had. Now with that said hope, you all have enjoyed this little story down memory lane……say a prayer
