Mom's Journey Home
Mom’s dying is a new world for me. Sharing this experience is changing me – and all of us – in ways I could not have imagined. My Mom is facing the end making me more aware of the value of living each day to the fullest. Looking back over my Mom's life makes me realize how lucky I am to spend so much quality time with her. Watching mom experience her last seasons' change and her last Christmas gives substance to the concept of “stopping to smell the roses.” While my heart aches and my mind searches for an understanding of how I'm going to live without my MOMMY. How will I keep going? One day at a time is all we can do. I will miss her love for me and her guidance. Mom was a savior during my recovery from a brain aneurysm, I would not have been the person I am today without her help.
April 3, 2017 --Spending the night at the hospital with Mom tonight. Mom has a feeding tube just to help build her strength. She did not pass the swallow test, she gags when she tries to eat or drink. She is very weak. I woke Mom when I got to the hospital. She heard me and she opened her eyes. Mom was happy I came from Florida to see her. She hugged me and I told her I loved her. This could go either way, her kidneys are shutting down but I have hope she will pull through.
April 5, 2017 --OK, all you prayer warriors look at my Moms face. She is determined to live. She told me an angel knocked on her window at the hospital and then disappeared not taking her. So my Mom gets to live a while longer. Stay strong Mom and keep that beautiful smile on your face. Mom has been moved from ICU to room 3106. I have a returning flight to Florida on Tuesday. I think she is going to be ok.
April 7, 2017 -Spending the night at the hospital with Mom tonight. Mom has a feeding tube just to help build her strength. She did not pass a swallow test, she gags when she tries to eat or drink. She is very weak. I woke Mom when I got to the hospital, when she opened her eyes she could not believe I was there. She hugged me and I told her I loved her. This could go either way, her kidneys are shutting down but I have hope she will pull through.
April 9, 2017-- My mom was moved Friday from Springfield Hospital to the nursing home. She still needs prayers to continue to get well. Josh, Josie Nunamaker, and Mason went and spent time with Mom this morning. Wheeled her around the nursing home to see the beautiful parakeets. Mom was tired out by the time we left. She was, so, so happy to see us.
May 13, 2017 --Mommy passed away this morning at 1:50am. God sent her mommy to show her the way to heaven. She called out Mommy many times before she left this world. She was happy to go with her. Mom was only in her 20's when her Mom went to heaven.
One Year Gone May 13, 2018 - -Oh, Mommy how I miss you. I can't believe on Mothers Day you will have been gone 1 year. I miss that beautiful smile and happiness you brought in my life. I have kept one glove of my Moms and one of my deceased daughters where a tea party was held for my daughter. It was such a wonderful occasion to see both of them together enjoying each other and my great family. Mommy, you were taken way to soon. I would love to hear your laugh and talk to you. I'll have to wait to see you at heavens gate when I arrive.
